Thai PM to visit Sri Lanka on Saturday

Date:

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will pay a visit to Sri Lanka on Saturday at the invitation of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Srettha was expected to spend two days at the country’s executive and judicial capital of Colombo and take part in the celebrations to mark the 76th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s independence as a guest of honor, but the government announced that his visit would be limited to one day due to a sudden illness. Nevertheless, the Thai prime minister is expected to participate in the ceremony for about one hour as a sign of respect.

Srettha will be accompanied by a 39-member delegation, including several deputy ministers, and hold talks with Wickremesinghe. He will also witness the signing of a free trade agreement between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
