Trinamool Congress seeks appointment with Bengal Guv on Feb 15

Date:

West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress has sought an appointment with Governor CV Ananda Bose to meet him on Thursday and urge him to visit Chopra in North Dinajpur immediately where four children were killed after pile of soil buried them during digging of a drain for widening near a BSF camp.

“Uttar Dinajpur’s Chopra witnessed a heart-wrenching tragedy where four innocent children lost lives during BSF’s expansion work”, a TMC memorandum to the governor said.

“The incident occurred during digging and deepening the drain which was being done “illegally” under the direction of BSF and without any proper sanctioned plan or consent of the competent authorities,” the TMC said.

“We urge you to visit at Chopra as you did at Sandeshkhali after cutting short your Kerala visit to assess the situation in North 24 Parganas.

We appeal to you to show the same urgency and compassion and visit Chopra immediately”.

The TMC formed a 12-member delegation to meet the governor on February 15 in relation to the tragic accident at Chopra, a AITC media release said.

The delegation will be led by Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya.
