Agartala, 6th April 2024: The electoral landscape in West Tripura is gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha seat and Ramnagar Assembly seat by-elections with the commencement of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) commissioning. The process began today at the Umakanta School Auditorium in Agartala, marking a crucial step towards ensuring a smooth electoral process.
The commissioning activities are set to continue into tomorrow, with representatives from various political parties expected to be in attendance to oversee the proceedings. Dr. Vishal Kumar, the Returning Officer for the West Tripura Lok Sabha Constituency and District Magistrate, was present on-site along with other election officials to initiate the process.
Dr. Kumar disclosed that approximately 1000 EVMs have been allocated for the dual electoral events, with 793 designated for active polling stations and the remainder held in reserve. He emphasized the preparedness measures in place, assuring that any mechanical issues with the EVMs on election day would not impede the voting process.
The returning officer conveyed optimism about the elections proceeding without complications, reflecting the administration’s commitment to a seamless and fair voting experience for the citizens of Tripura.
