Agartala, 11th April 2024: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha condemned the CPIM and Congress for their decades-long assault on democracy, labeling their actions as nothing short of a murder of democratic principles. He asserted that these parties are now bereft of any significant issues to bring to the forefront in the current Lok Sabha election.
Speaking at a public meeting in Ward No. 39 under 8-Town Baradowali Mandal, Dr. Saha pointed out a notable absence of widespread anti-incumbency sentiment, a departure from previous elections.
“In this election, the opposition’s platform lacks substance. Their repetitive cries of defending democracy and preserving the constitution ring hollow when considering their own history of suppressing democracy during their 35-year reign,” Dr. Saha remarked. He highlighted instances of violence and oppression under their rule, citing recent tragic events where numerous Congress supporters lost their lives.
Dr. Saha didn’t spare the CPIM, accusing them of perpetuating a culture of fear throughout the state. “Their notion of democracy seems to revolve around allegiance to the CPIM. This blatant disregard for democratic values has eroded public trust,” he criticized.
Turning his focus to Prime Minister Modi’s governance, Dr. Saha praised his commitment to upholding the Indian constitution and highlighted developmental strides made under his leadership.
“PM Modi’s efforts have brought significant progress, including the long-awaited realization of the Ram Mandir after 500 years. The upcoming election holds paramount importance for the nation’s trajectory,” he stressed, underscoring the transformative impact of PM Modi’s initiatives on Tripura and the wider Northeast region.
In a final rebuke, Dr. Saha dismissed the opposition’s tactics as mere theatrics, grounded in falsehoods and designed to confuse the electorate.
