Agartala, 5th May 2024:   An emergency meeting convened by the Agartala Club Forum today, presided over by Chairman Sanjay Pal, saw the participation of 61 members. Amidst growing tensions surrounding the impending election results, the Forum unanimously adopted several resolutions aimed at maintaining peace and order in Agartala and across the state.

The Forum issued a generous appeal to all political parties and citizens to uphold peace during the announcement of election outcomes. Clubs were urged to play an active role in fostering harmony by organizing campaigns and engaging with local communities.

Furthermore, plans were laid out for a larger meeting scheduled for June 2nd, where clubs will strategize on post-election normalization efforts and address other critical issues.

Recognizing the role of clubs in shaping youth culture, proposals were made to promote sports and cultural activities as deterrents to drug addiction. Embracing Bengali and ethnic cultural practices was encouraged as an alternative to DJ culture.

In response to a member’s proposal, the Forum will deliberate on measures to protect water resources at the upcoming meeting. Tragically, the recent killing of Bharat Ratna Club Secretary Durga Prasanna Deb was condemned by the Forum, which observed a minute of silence in his honor. Tomorrow, a delegation from the Forum will visit the late secretary’s residence to engage with locals and ensure peace in the area.

Amidst challenges, the Agartala Club Forum stands united in its commitment to fostering peace, promoting cultural vibrancy, and addressing critical community concerns.
