Date:

BJP on Wednesday slammed Congress leader Sam Pitroda over his alleged objectionable comments on the ‘looks’ of Indians saying the party has insulted India’s culture and identity as well as the people of the country.

Addressing a press conference at party headquarters in New Delhi, BJP National spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said as the Lok Sabha election is moving ahead, the Congress is getting exposed by his remarks against the people of India.

Trivedi alleged that “the whole ideology of Congress is about dividing people.”

Congress leader Sam Pitroda stirred a major controversy after remarking that ‘Indians in the East resemble the Chinese while those in the South look like Africans’.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharama also slammed Pitroda, for his remarks and said, “I am from South India. I look Indian! My team has enthusiastic members from north east India”. “They look Indian! My colleagues from west India look Indian! But, for the racist who is the mentor of @RahulGandhi we all look African, Chinese, Arab and the White! Thanks for revealing your mindset and your attitude. I.N.D.I alliance’s shame!” She wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Congress has distanced itself from the comment of Pitroda, saying the analogies drawn by him to illustrate India’s diversity are most unfortunate and unacceptable.
