Agartala, 30th May 2024:   Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday said that there is no need to panic as the state has sufficient stock of fuel and food grains.

Due to waterlogging and heavy rain caused by Cyclone Remal, train and road connectivity in parts of Assam’s New Haflong-Bandarkhal section and Dima Hasao district has been severely affected.

After this information spread on social media, people were seen in huge lines at various petrol pumps collecting fuel for their vehicles. In response to this, Tripura Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that there is no need to panic as the state has fuel, including petrol and diesel, stock for almost seven days.

“In the Badarpur-Lumbding area, trains connectivity disrupted due to the current natural calamities, but there was no damage. Some water was logged, but everything was cleaned by NFR. At petrol pumps, we have seen some lines, but I want to assure everyone that everything is normal. There is no need to panic,” he said.

The minister further informed that he also spoke with the NFR General Manager and other officials who have assured that railway connectivity will be restored and trains will come again with fuel and other essential commodities. “And we also have a buffer stock of food grains in stores and ration shops,” he added.
