Agartala, 3rd June 2024: The Engineers Forum of Tripura and also employees of Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSECL) held a dharna in front of Tripura Police Headquarters demanding arrest of an advocate who allegedly manhandled an engineer and official of TSECL after lawyers staged protest over 3 day long power outage.
On May 29, the Advocates and other officials of West Tripura District Sessions and Judicial Magistrate Court have staged a road blockade in protest against the power outage caused by Cyclone Remal.
When a an engineer who is also senior manager of TSECL Apu Pal arrived at the spot one advocate was seen to allegedly manhandled him and pushed him inside the court premises to restore the power. Protesting this, on Monday the Engineers Forum Tripura staged a protest in front of the state police headquarters demanding punishment for the lawyer involved in the Apu Pal harassment.
A delegation from the forum went to the police headquarters and made a deputation to the Director General of the police. They demanded that the lawyer involved in harassing Apu Pal should be arrested. A member of the forum said what they will do in coming days no can imagine.
