Agartala, 19th June 2024:   Extreme tension spread in the premises of GB Pant Hospital today after the family members of Basudeb Pal (35) from Shantirbazar accused the hospital of negligence, alleging that his death was due to the failure to transfer him to another facility for better treatment.

According to the deceased’s wife, Pal had attempted suicide by consuming acid 15 days ago and was initially admitted to Shantirbazar Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was quickly transferred to GB Hospital, where he remained under treatment.

During his stay at GB Pant Hospital, Pal’s condition showed signs of improvement, prompting his wife to consider taking him home. However, his health deteriorated once more.

The family claimed that despite their repeated requests to move him to another hospital for advanced care, GB Hospital authorities denied their appeals, ultimately leading to his death this morning.

The tragic incident led to an outburst of emotions among the family and relatives, who gathered in large numbers at the hospital, resulting in a highly charged atmosphere. They voiced their grievances loudly, accusing the hospital staff of negligence and mismanagement, which they believe directly contributed to Pal’s untimely demise.

Authorities at GB Hospital have yet to release an official statement regarding these allegations. In the meantime, security at the hospital has been heightened to prevent any further escalation of tensions.
