Agartala, 16th July 2024: Mayor Dipak Majumder of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA embarked on a inspection tour of Ward No. 36 on Tuesday responding to a surge of complaints from local residents. The visit aimed to assess the state of infrastructure address grievances and identify areas in need of urgent attention.
Mayor Majumder’s itinerary included a visit to the deteriorating wooden bridge in Dakshin Jayanagar. The bridge, which has long been a cause for concern among residents, has suffered from neglect and wear over the years. During his inspection, Mayor Majumder witnessed firsthand the precarious condition of the structure.
As the mayor toured the area, he encountered an impassioned community frustrated by the state of local roads. Residents expressed their anger and disappointment over the inadequate road maintenance, potholes, and uneven surfaces. The deteriorating road network has hindered daily commutes, affected transportation, and posed safety risks.
Mayor Majumder was accompanied by Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav, local corporators, and other officials. Their presence underscored the seriousness of the situation and the commitment of Agartala Municipal Corporation to address the pressing issues faced by Ward No. 36 residents.
In response to the bridge’s dire condition, Mayor Majumder announced a swift solution. The dilapidated wooden bridge in South Joynagar will be replaced with a Bailey Bridge. Construction is slated to commence in November, providing a safer and more reliable crossing for the community.
The mayor emphasized the importance of timely infrastructure improvements and pledged to expedite the project. Residents hope that this proactive approach will alleviate their concerns and enhance connectivity within the ward.
