Agartala, 27th July 2024:   A poultry farm was severely damaged by a fire that erupted early Saturday morning. The blaze began in the farm’s godown around 10 am and quickly escalated, prompting an immediate response from local emergency services.

Workers at the poultry farm were the first to notice the fire and promptly alerted the Ananda Nagar fire brigade. Firefighters arrived at the scene, but due to the intensity of the flames, additional support was requested. Fire departments from Badharghat and Maharajganj Bazar sent two more fire engines to assist in controlling the blaze.

Three fire engines worked in unison for three hours to bring the fire under control. Local residents rallied to support the firefighters as the news of the disaster spread.

Amal Banik, the owner of Poultry Farm attributed the fire to an electrical short circuit. The Amtali police station also dispatched officers to the scene.

Despite the significant size of the poultry farm, it was revealed that there were no fire control measures in place, necessitating the deployment of multiple fire engines.

This incident highlights a broader issue in Agartala and its suburbs, where many non-governmental organizations lack adequate fire safety systems, potentially endangering populated areas.
