Agartala, 29th July 2024:   The people of Sonamura’s Shanti Palli area have reached a breaking point, as civil services fail to address severe road dust issues disrupting their daily lives. In a protest, residents blocked the Sonamura-Belonia and Sonamura-Srimantapur roads from 11:30 am on Monday.

Residents allege that despite multiple appeals to the concerned department to sprinkle water on the dusty roads, no action has been taken. The persistent dust has made it impossible for people to leave their homes safely. A promise was made to address the issue by 11:30 am on Monday, but the water sprinkling never occurred, prompting the frustrated citizens to take to the streets.

The blockade brought traffic to a standstill, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. One protester remarked, “We were forced to block the roads because no one is listening to us. We can’t live like this anymore.”

The demonstration underscores the residents’ desperation and the pressing need for responsive civil services to ensure basic living conditions.
