Agartala, 8th August 2024:   On the day of the three-tier Panchayat elections, residents of Jaharnagar Sadhutila area in Ward No. 15 of Ambassa Municipal Council staged a road blockade to protest against an acute water shortage that has plagued them for the past seven days.

Despite multiple complaints to the Municipal Council officials, no action was taken to address the issue. Frustrated by the inaction, the villagers blocked the Assam-Agartala National Highway on Thursday, causing significant disruption.

Councilor Shankar Chakraborty of Ambassa Municipal Council promptly arrived at the scene upon learning of the blockade. After assuring the residents that their concerns would be addressed, the blockade was lifted, and normalcy was restored.
