Govt to issue new ration cards, asks for e-KYC

Date:

By TC News Desk

Agartala, 17th August 2024 :  The Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs of Tripura has announced a major update for ration cardholders. Starting August 17, the department will be issuing new ration cards to replace the old paper ones, and it is essential for all consumers to update their Aadhaar e-KYC to ensure a seamless ration distribution process.

According to the notification, all ration cardholders must complete Aadhaar e-KYC through fingerprint identification for every family member to continue receiving ration goods without interruption at ration shops. The department has noted that many ration cardholders have not yet linked their Aadhaar with their ration cards or completed the e-KYC process. The list of these individuals is available at the respective ration shops.

Consumers listed as “Aadhaar” or “e-KYC Pending” are urged to visit their ration shops and use the e-POS machines to scan their fingerprints by September 30, 2024, to complete the e-KYC process.

Additionally, it is important for all consumers to verify and update their personal details such as name, age, gender, and address on their ration cards. This can be done online by visiting the department’s website or by scanning the provided QR code and entering their ration card number. Any discrepancies should be corrected promptly. For further assistance, consumers can contact the Food Department at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
