14-year-old boy dies after house collapses at Mungiakami due to heavy rain

Agartala, 20th August 2024:   In a tragic incident, a 14-year-old boy lost his life after his house collapsed amid continuous rainfall in the Champlai Lakhai market area under Mungiakami police station last night. The incident has sparked widespread shock and grief among the local community.

The victim identified as Biresh Debbarma was inside the house when it crumbled under the relentless downpour last night. According to reports, his parents were also in the same room but had stepped outside moments before the collapse. Their timely exit spared them from the disaster.

Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters rushed to the scene. They managed to pull Biresh from the debris and quickly transported him to the nearest hospital. However, despite their efforts, the attending doctor declared him dead on arrival.

The incident has cast a pall over the Champlai Lakhai market, with local residents mourning the untimely death of the young boy. The continuous rain has caused significant concern in the area, with fears of more such accidents if the weather persists.
