Journalist Pranab Sarkar distributes relief materials among flood-affected victims at Belonia

Agartaka, 27th August 2024:  In a significant relief effort for the flood-hit areas of Belonia sub-division, journalist Pranab Sarkar led the distribution of essential supplies and cash aid. Sarkar, a native of Belonia personally oversaw the delivery of food items to refugees residing in camps across the area.

In addition to the food distribution, Sarkar handed over Rs 40,000 in cash to the Chairman of the Municipal Council. This fund is designated for further distribution to remote areas affected by the floods. Meanwhile, he also distributed food items to schools like BKI and Ganada.

Several organizations and individuals contributed to the relief effort, including Sunny Saha, Baby Ella Moni, and Tulsibati Girls’ Alumni, who donated Rs 10,000 in cash. Sarkar also provided additional relief supplies to local journalists, who will ensure that these resources reach the most isolated and impacted areas.

Speaking to reporters, Sarkar highlighted that Belonia is among the hardest-hit areas in the current floods. He emphasized the importance of local support, particularly from those with deep ties to the community. The government has also assured that more supplies will be sent if the situation demands.

Sarkar was joined by Chairman Nikhil Gope, social worker Gautam Sarkar, Municipal Council member Anupam Chakraborty, News Today Managing Director  Sourojit  Pal, and Arghya Bhattacharya representing Shishu Bihar Alumni. Their collective efforts underscore the solidarity and commitment to aiding the flood-affected residents of Belonia.
