Agartala, 27th August 2024:  In a proactive move to assist students affected by the recent floods, the Department of School Education has announced that textbooks will be distributed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to those whose books have been destroyed. However, it appears that the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) leadership in the state is unaware of this development.

On Tuesday, NSUI representatives approached both the Department of School Education and the Department of Higher Education, urging them to provide free textbooks and educational materials to students impacted by the floods. Additionally, they demanded a one-time financial assistance package for affected students. The devastating floods have caused significant losses for students across the state, prompting NSUI President Swarup Kumar Shil to call for urgent attention to these issues
