Floods in Bangladesh claim lives of 31 people – Reports

Date:

The death toll from floods in Bangladesh has reached 31, with over 5.8 million people being affected, Bangladeshi news portal Daily Observer reported.

About $380,000 had already been allocated to the regions affected by the disaster, the report said on Wednesday.

Indian media reported earlier that flooding in the Indian state of Tripura, which borders Bangladesh, killed at least 20 people and affected about 1.7 million others.

Relentless monsoon rains hit South and Southeast Asia at the beginning of the monsoon season, causing flooding and landslides, which resulted in numerous deaths and damage to property and agricultural land.
