Agartala, 29th August 2024: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the royal scion and former chairman of Tipra Motha, announced on Thursday his decision to provide financial aid of Rs 50,000 to each family that lost a loved one during the recent floods in Tripura. The devastating floods, which began on August 19 and lasted until August 24, claimed the lives of approximately 31 people due to landslides and drowning, and displaced over 1 lakh residents, forcing them into relief camps.

In a heartfelt voice message, Pradyot expressed his deep commitment to supporting the families affected by this tragedy. He emphasized that this financial aid would be drawn from his personal funds, with no connection to government resources or the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

“I have decided to personally provide Rs 50,000 to the family of each person who died due to the floods and landslides between August 19 and 24. This is entirely from my own pocket, not from any government or TTAADC funds,” Pradyot stated.

He also urged the TTAADC and the Tripura Government to arrange adequate compensation for those who suffered losses to their homes, livestock, and cultivated lands due to the disaster. Pradyot had earlier contributed Rs 10 lakh towards flood relief efforts in the state.
