Agartala, 6th September 2024:   In a shocking incident, the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TT) on duty was assaulted by banana traders on a Dharmanagar-bound passenger train at Manu railway station. The altercation reportedly began over the illegal loading of bananas in the common room.

According to sources, residents of Bicharatali area regularly transport bananas by train, causing inconvenience to passengers. On Friday, when traders placed bananas in the common room, several passengers lodged complaints with the TT. The TT informed the traders that loading bananas in the common room was prohibited. This led to a heated confrontation, with tribal women and traders attacking the TT.

The situation escalated when the train halted at Manu railway station, where the women dragged the TT off the train and assaulted him. Police were immediately notified of the incident.

Speaking to the media, the injured TT stated that he was attacked after addressing passenger complaints about the bananas. A police official confirmed that the conflict arose over the loading of bananas on the train.
