BSF Jawan Allegedly Shoots self with Service Rifle in Tripura

Agartala, 9th September 2024:   A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan stationed in Kamalpur, Dhalai District, tragically lost his life on Monday after reportedly shooting himself with his service rifle.

According to a BSF official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the jawan, identified as 40-year-old B Arun Dilip, was on duty at the border when the incident occurred.

“It appears that he shot himself, likely in a suicide attempt, using his service rifle. After the incident, we immediately retrieved him and rushed him to Kamalpur Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was then referred to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala,” the official stated.

Tragically, the jawan was declared dead on arrival by the doctors at GB Pant Hospital.

“He sustained two gunshot wounds, one in the abdomen and another in the shoulder. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident,” the official added.
