Agartala Municipal Corporation prepares for Durga Puja amid challenges

Agartala, 5th October 2024:   In anticipation of the upcoming Durga Puja, the Agartala Municipal Corporation has initiated several projects. The progress and challenges of these projects were discussed in a meeting held on Saturday at the Agartala Municipal Corporation’s conference hall here. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Dipak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta, Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav and other corporators.

Mayor Majumdar highlighted that numerous works have been undertaken for the festival. However, natural calamities have hindered their completion. Despite these setbacks, efforts are ongoing to finish the projects before the puja. The scope of these works was a key topic of discussion during the meeting.

Preparations are being made to ensure that the public can enjoy the festivities. The modern Niranjan Ghat at Dasmighat is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on October 7. Additionally, initiatives are in place to maintain cleanliness in Agartala during the celebrations. Mayor Majumdar also noted an increase in the number of Durga Puja celebrations in the city compared to last year.
