Agartala, 8th October 2024:  Tripura has been battling continuous heavy rainfall since August 18, 2024, which has caused severe flooding and landslides in several districts. The extreme weather has led to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, particularly affecting the Dhalai and Gomati districts.

In response to the ongoing disaster, Jana Unnayan Samiti Tripura (JUST) submitted an assessment report to Donatekart, seeking urgent support for the most vulnerable communities. The report highlighted the need for 442 shelter kits to aid affected families in 11 villages across Dhalai and Gomati.

“We are grateful that this is the second time Donatekart has extended its hand to support flood-affected communities in Tripura through JUST,” a spokesperson from JUST said, acknowledging the continued collaboration.

Upon receiving the much-needed supplies, JUST swiftly distributed the shelter kits to 11 villages in the Gondatwisa sub-division of Dhalai District. The shelter kits, generously donated by Amazon, contain essential items such as bathing soaps, cloth wash bars, sanitary pads, nylon mosquito nets, recycled plastic ground sheets and tarpaulin sheets, dental kits, buckets, and ropes.

This timely intervention is expected to bring relief to hundreds of families struggling with the devastating effects of the floods.
