Terrible fire reduces poor family’s house to ashes at Golaghati

Agartala, 21st October 2024:   In a devastating incident on Monday afternoon, the home of Manik Devbarma, located near Prabhapur SB School under the Golaghati assembly constituency was burnt to ashes due to a sudden electrical short circuit. The fire destroyed all the furniture and essential documents inside the house.

Manik Debbarma and his family were not present when the incident occurred. Neighbors were the first to notice the fire and promptly alerted Srinagar police station and Anandanagar fire department personnel.

OC Dilip Debbarma of Srinagar Police Station, along with firefighters, rushed to the scene. The firefighters managed to control the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby houses.

Local sources described Manik Debbarma as a hardworking individual. Despite his efforts, the fire has left him and his family destitute. “All the furniture and even some necessary documents have been burnt to ashes,” a local resident remarked.
