Agartala, 25th October 2024 : : In a tragic incident, a man named Adirai Riang ((38) was fatally shot while collecting vegetables from a forest in Dasda Kanchanpur Hasapara area. The incident took place on Thursday when Adirai ventured into the forest, and upon returning home later that evening, his family noticed severe injuries to his leg.
He was promptly taken to a local hospital, where doctors referred him to the Dharmanagar District Hospital due to the critical nature of his injuries. However, his condition worsened, and he was further referred to GB Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The victim’s family, residents of the Hasapara area in Bashiram Bazar under Anandabazar police station, reported that Adirai had suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. They are unaware of who may have been responsible for the shooting.
Dr. Chiranjit Bhattacharya, the attending physician at GB Hospital, confirmed that Adirai was already deceased upon arrival but refrained from commenting on the nature of the leg injuries. He stated that the exact cause of death would be determined following a post-mortem examination.
The incident has sparked significant unrest in the Anandabazar area, with local police launching an investigation into the shooting.
