Two days IPM HRD training programme at Khowai, 53 individuals participated

Agartala, 25th October 2024 :   Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Agartala organized two-day IPM HRD Training Programme at Superintendent of Agriculture, Khowai District on October 22 and 23 where a total 53 individuals participated from State Agriculture officials and farmers. The training programme was inaugurated by Srikanta Nath, Assistant Director of Agriculture Khowai District and addressed the gathering to adopt Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to contained pests and diseases of field crops in climate change scenario and its importance.

Dr. Adam Kamei, Plant Protection Officer (Plant Pathology), Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Imphal brief about the IPM as ecofriendly approach of pest management and sensitized National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS) initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India launched by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on August 15, 2024 for the benefit of farming community by the use of latest NPSS app integrated with AI/ML technologies for pest detection, forecasting and advisory.

Technical Team of CIPMC, Agartala, Dr. Adam Kamei PPO and Dr. Tanusree Das, APPO (PP) has covered on effective utilization of NPSS app, Identification of insect pest and diseases and natural enemies of Rice crops and vegetable production of biocontrol agents Trichoderma viridae and Pseudomonas flurescens both in culture and powder formulation was demonstrated, Preparation of botanical extracts from locally available resource was also trained.

Field visit in Rice crops was carried out in group wise to collect Insects and disease sample. After field exercised AESA on different crops was demonstrated about rice ecosystem and to make decision in pest management.

Dr. Tanusree Das, APPO (PP) provided hands on Training to the trainees on Seed Treatment of paddy and chilli seeds with biopesticides, installation of pheromone traps, preparation of sticky traps Yellow/Blue, safety use in handling of pesticides.
