Agartala, 25th October 2024 :  Tripura BJP State President, Rajib Bhattacharya, announced on Friday that the party would convene an important organizational meeting tomorrow to solidify its base in the state. Bhattacharya highlighted that the BJP has already enrolled over 10 lakh members, nearing its 12-lakh target.

Addressing the media, Bhattacharya, who also serves as a Rajya Sabha MP, shared that the membership drive initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 2 had so far attracted about 7.43 lakh online enrollments and an additional 2 lakh offline in Tripura. “This process is still ongoing, and we are confident of achieving our target in the coming days,” he said.

The meeting, scheduled for tomorrow, will be attended by Tripura’s state Prabhari Dr. Rajdeep Roy, Northeast Coordinator Sambit Patra, and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, and will focus on strategies for fortifying the party’s organizational structure.

Bhattacharya further commended recent state developments, highlighting a meeting between Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, during which a substantial package of Rs 2,800 crore was announced for enhancing the national highway. “This is a tremendous boost for our state. Additionally, seat capacity at the dental college has been increased, and the government provided free rations through ration shops after Durga Puja. The Chief Minister has also introduced the CM-SATH scheme for meritorious students, which will significantly benefit our youth,” Bhattacharya noted.

In a pointed criticism of the opposition, Bhattacharya accused CPIM leaders of working to undermine the BJP and the government. He referenced a recent statement by Opposition Leader Jitendra Chaudhury against DGP Amitabh Ranjan, describing it as “unacceptable” coming from a senior leader. He also recalled instances of violence during CPIM’s rule, mentioning that several MLAs and SDMs lost their lives without receiving justice. “Our Chief Minister is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against mafias and drug dealers. There will be no leniency,” Bhattacharya asserted.
