Agartala, 28th October 2024:   Former Chief Minister and CPIM Politburo member Manik Sarkar on Monday accused the BJP government of being influenced by the country’s capitalists. Sarkar claimed that the government operates under their directives.

Highlighting the severe impact of recent floods in Tripura, Sarkar at a rally in Sonamura noted, “The people of Tripura have been greatly affected by the floods, yet the state government has not taken any compensation measures.” Despite multiple visits from central teams, no effective action has been taken, prompting Sarkar to call for public protest.

Sarkar accused the BJP government of failing to provide employment and essential services. “There is no work, no jobs in the state. Hospitals are suffering from a shortage of doctors, nurses, health workers, and school teachers,” he alleged. He further claimed that the BJP has not contributed to the state’s development over the past seven years but has instead fostered division among different communities.

The former chief minister also alleged that the BJP is involved in corrupt practices, including giving jobs in exchange for money and manipulating the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRTC) process. “BJP and corruption have become synonymous,” he asserted.

Sarkar called for unity among the people to combat the BJP’s divisive politics and maintain peace and harmony in the state.
