Agartala, 28th October 2024: The political climate in the Nalchar assembly area has become increasingly heated with Kishor Barman, the MLA of Nalchar assembly constituency reportedly losing support among independent members. A similar situation has been observed in the Shibnagar Gram Panchayat area under the Nalchar block.
The membership of six panchayat members was dismissed within two months of taking their oath. The ruling party’s nominees had won unopposed in almost every panchayat of the Nalchar block area during the last 3-tier Panchayat elections. Since then, tensions have been rising among the political parties, with disputes emerging over the positions of Pradhans and Upa-Pradhans.
On Monday, six panchayat representatives of the ruling party held a press conference in the presence of local residents, where they voiced their grievances. They accused the block administration and ruling party leaders of deception during the oath-taking process. Complications arose over the selection of the Pradhan and Upa-Pradhan, with some members unwilling to accept the appointed Pradhan and the Upa-Pradhan expressing a desire to step down.
Following these complaints, the situation escalated when six members were suddenly dismissed from their block panchayat membership after two months of functioning. This move has raised questions among the panchayat members, who allege that MLA Kishor Barman is involved in the matter.
The press conference was held to bring the issue to the attention of the higher authorities within the party. General members of the party echoed similar complaints, highlighting the growing discontent within the Nalchar assembly area.
