Agartala, 23rd November 2024:   After years of anticipation, the dream of Balehar village residents is set to be realized with the commencement of a road-widening project. Minister Tinku Roy visited the village in Kailashahar on Saturday to oversee the preparations and address the villagers’ concerns.

Located in ward number six of Jalai Gram Panchayat, Balehar village is home to about three hundred families, with ninety percent relying on agricultural work. The village has been struggling due to its only access road, a narrow three-foot-wide path next to the Manu River, which hampers the entry of any vehicles. This has severely affected the farmers’ ability to transport their produce to the market.

Minister Tinku Roy’s visit came in response to the villagers’ plea to widen the road, following his inspection of the Manu River’s erosion. “Listening to the villagers’ needs, I promised to take necessary actions to widen the road,” Minister Roy stated. “This project is crucial for improving their livelihood and ensuring their safety.”

He instructed the local Public Works Department to prioritize the road-widening project. Officials have made several visits to the village and prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR). However, the limited space posed a significant challenge. To address this, Minister Roy revisited the village with Public Works officials including Executive Engineer Pradip Ranjan Das, Pradhan of Jalai Gram Panchayat Paritosh Dey and Upa-Pradhan Binendra Mahisya Das.

“We held a meeting with the villagers to resolve the space issue for widening the road. The community’s cooperation was essential, and they are pleased with the outcome. This road is vital for their daily activities and economic stability,” explained Minister Roy.

The officials along with the minister inspected the three-foot-wide three-kilometer-long road. “The preparations for the road widening are now complete,” Roy affirmed to the press. “We are ready to begin the work and bring much-needed relief to the people of Balehar.”

The project has brought renewed hope to the villagers, who can finally look forward to better accessibility and improved living conditions. The successful execution of this initiative marks a significant step towards the development of rural infrastructure in the region.
