Agartala, 3rd December 2024: The Tripura Chemical Society took a significant step towards environmental protection by organizing a one-day workshop at PM Shri Sabroom Higher Secondary Girls’ School. The primary objective of the workshop was to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic usage and to promote eco-friendly practices.
The workshop was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Tejendra Bhakta, Secretary of the Tripura Chemical Society, as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Dr. Partha Sarathi Ghosh, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Advanced Studies, Kishore Datta, Assistant Headmaster, and Chandan Roy Choudhury, Treasurer and Member of the School Management Committee (SMC).The first session of the workshop featured a discussion circle where the speakers highlighted the dangers of plastic pollution and emphasized the necessity of its elimination. Students were educated on alternatives to plastic and encouraged to adopt sustainable practices.
Following this, speech and quiz competitions were organized for the students. Participants from various schools enthusiastically took part in these events, showcasing their knowledge and interest in the topic.Winners of the competitions were awarded medals and certificates, inspiring them to actively contribute to environmental conservation efforts.The Tripura Chemical Society announced its plans to conduct similar workshops in different parts of the state. The organizers expressed hope that such initiatives would help nurture environmentally conscious citizens among the younger generation.This initiative towards creating a plastic-free society serves as an exemplary step for everyone, underlining the importance of collective effort in safeguarding our environment.
