Agartala, 11th December 2024: The 68th National School Games Under-17 Girls Judo Competition will commence tomorrow at the Netaji Subhash Regional Coaching Centre (NSRCC) in Agartala, marking another significant milestone in India’s sporting calendar.
The event, scheduled from December 12 to December 15, will bring together budding judo talent from across the country. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha is set to inaugurate the competition, as announced by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy during a press conference today at the Secretariat.
This year’s edition will witness participation from 27 states and four judo associations, involving 254 players and 71 officials. Minister Roy informed that 13 states have already arrived, with the remaining participants expected by tonight.
Accommodation for the officials has been arranged at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas, while competitors will stay at the NSRCC hostel and Tripura Sports School. The inaugural ceremony will also feature the felicitation of 10 Tripura players who have excelled in the 65th, 66th, and 67th editions of the National School Games, along with four players who have shone in the 3rd, 5th, and 6th editions of the Khelo India Youth Games.
During the press briefing, Minister Roy emphasized Tripura’s successful history of hosting national-level sporting events and expressed confidence in the seamless execution of this competition. Secretary of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, and Director Satyabrata Nath were also present.
The event is poised to be a vibrant celebration of youth sports, underscoring Tripura’s growing stature as a hub for national sporting activities.
