Agartala, 24th December 2024:  Students of Bishnupur High School in the Kadamtala police station area have initiated a protest to achieve a seven-point charter of demands including the immediate appointment of teachers. The protest was sparked by concerns over the adverse impact of teacher shortages on their education.

The students voiced their grievances, stating that Bishnupur High School is in a poor state. Currently, there are only three teachers in the morning section and six teachers in the afternoon section. The recent transfer of one of their teachers, Arpita Nath, has further disrupted their studies.

The protesting students have several demands, key among them being the reinstatement of Arpita Nath. Their seven-point demands also include the construction of a school boundary, a gate for the school, and goal posts for the playground.

The students began their protest on Tuesday morning to press for their demands. Upon receiving news of the protest, police from the Kadamtala police station arrived at the scene and engaged with the students. However, no officials from the education department have visited the site, and the protest continues.

The students’ movement highlights the urgent need for addressing the issues affecting their education and the importance of timely intervention by educational authorities to ensure a conducive learning environment.
