Iran will hold intensive exercises in the coming days using offensive and defensive weapons, Gholam Ali Rashid, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said.
“In the coming days, intensive exercises using offensive and defensive weapons will be planned and conducted in order to counter threats emanating from the enemies of the Iranian people,” Rashid was quoted as saying by the Fars news agency on Wednesday.
An average of 30 major exercises are held in Iran annually under the leadership of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the report added.
Rashid reportedly noted that although Iran, according to its defensive doctrine, will never start a war in the region, the upcoming exercises are being held to test and enhance the defensive and offensive readiness of the armed forces to counter any threats.
