Students to play key role in shaping society: Mayor

Agartala, 3rd January 2025:  Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder today expressed his hopes that these students would play a key role in leading the society, state, and country in the future.

The 52nd State-based Bal Science Exhibition 2024-2025 was inaugurated today by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA, Dipak Majumdar, at Maharani Tulsibati XII Class Girls’ School.

The event, organized by SCERT, aims to foster innovative and scientific thinking among students. This year, students from 8 districts participated with a total of 40 science models.

The exhibition’s main theme is “Science and Technology for Sustainable Future,” and it also includes seven sub-themes. During the inauguration, Mayor Majumdar praised the students for their efforts, emphasizing that while not everyone may win a prize, the opportunity to showcase their talents is a significant achievement. He expressed his hopes that these students would play a key role in leading the society, state, and country in the future.

Special Secretary of the Education Department, Raval Hemendra Kumar, stressed the importance of keeping pace with scientific innovations to drive societal progress and national development. He highlighted the complementary relationship between science and technology.

Dr. C.V. Simray, Assistant Professor of NCERT, New Delhi, reiterated that students are the future leaders of the country and must address societal challenges. He also noted that this exhibition has been ongoing for 51 years, with about 200 models participating last year in Sonipat.

SCERT Director L. Darlong discussed topics such as sustainable development, the national education policy, and new visions for science education. During the event, the Mayor unveiled the school’s ‘Kanad’ souvenir.

In addition to the exhibition, the event featured a quiz on millet and discussions on sustainable development. Tomorrow, a special session on “Millets for Sustainable Future and Health” will be held. An open quiz competition on science and green technology also took place today.

The event was attended by numerous students, teachers, NCC, NSS volunteers, and Scouts and Guides, creating a vibrant atmosphere of learning and collaboration.
