Agartala, 8th January 2025 :   A man identified as Suman Mia from Nadi Lakh area under Bishalgarh police station set his own house ablaze last night and fled, leaving his wife in distress. The incident caused significant alarm in the neighborhood as Suman’s wife managed to escape the house and began screaming for help.

Neighbors rushed to the scene, attempting to control the fire, but their efforts proved futile. Before the Bishalgarh fire station received the report and could respond, the fire had entirely consumed the house, leaving nothing salvageable.

Suman’s younger brother Mamon Mia mentioned that Suman had a history of causing trouble when intoxicated. “Two weeks back, I had to beat him up because of his behavior, and he ended up in lockup for a night,” Mamon stated. Despite a brief period of calm, Suman resumed his disruptive actions.

“Last night, Suman came home late and started causing a commotion,” Mamon continued. Local leaders advised Mamon to secure the house and get some rest. Shortly after, Mamon heard his sister-in-law’s screams and discovered the house engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to adjacent houses.

The Bishalgarh police have launched an investigation into the incident, and Suman Mia remains at large.
