Agartala, 9th January 2025: In a significant move to revitalize industrial activity, the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDC) has taken possession of the land and fixed assets of five long-abandoned industrial units at Bodhjangnagar Industrial Complex.
The units—Narayan Kar & Associates, EDP Management Private Limited, Hahnemann Medical Research Private Limited, Rommel Industries Limited, and Icor Super Cement Private Limited—had remained closed for years, leaving around 17 acres of valuable industrial land unused. The prolonged inactivity and unpaid dues of Rs 1.13 crore in land rent from the defaulting owners prompted TIDC to act under the Tripura Public Premises Act.
The Corporation had reportedly issued repeated demand notices to the defunct units, seeking payment of the pending rent, but the owners failed to respond. With land availability becoming a bottleneck for new investments, TIDC was compelled to acquire the properties for redevelopment.
A press release issued by TIDC emphasized that the reclaimed land will be reallocated for establishing new industrial ventures as per established rules. This initiative aims to attract fresh investments and generate employment opportunities, marking a positive step toward industrial growth in the state.
The Bodhjangnagar Industrial Complex is a critical hub for Tripura’s industrial development, and this move is expected to enhance its utilization significantly.
