West Agartala police recover stolen gold chain worth over Rs 1.5 lakh

Agartala, 13th January 2025:   The West Agartala police station staff successfully recovered a stolen gold chain valued at over Rs 1.5 lakh. A youth has been arrested in connection with the theft and the recovered necklace has been handed over to its rightful owners.

Speaking to media personnel here, West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das said, “On November 10, Shankari Sen was robbed on her way home from Kaman Chowmuhani Madhya Para. A youth ran after her, forcibly took the gold chain from her neck, and fled. The woman immediately started screaming, but the robber managed to escape.”

Following the incident, a written complaint was filed with the police station, prompting an investigation. “During the investigation, we arrested a youth named Debabrata Das, a resident of Sadhutila. We were able to recover the stolen gold ornaments from him,” said OC Paritosh Das.

He further added, “The market value of the stolen gold ornaments is estimated to be over Rs 1.5 lakh. The accused has been handed over to the court today for police remand.”
