Agartala, 27th January 2025:   Students of Hariradha Vidya Mandir have launched a protest against the alleged harassment and mental torture of their project co-in-charge Paritosh Pal during a train journey. Today, the students boycotted classes and staged a demonstration in front of the school demanding a fair trial for the incident.

The incident took place when Paritosh Pal, the project co-in-charge of Hariradha Vidya Mandir in the Hadrai area under Teliamura police station was traveling with two hostel students from Teliamura railway station to Pecharthal. During the journey, some women and men including a woman leader of the Congress party allegedly harassed Pal and the students. Despite Pal’s efforts to communicate with the families of the two girls, the perpetrators dismissed them as fake relatives and continued the harassment, even after verifying all the documents.

“When the train reached Mungiakami station, we were handed over to the railway police,” Pal recounted. “The police then placed us in another compartment, but as soon as we arrived at Kumarghat, around two hundred people detained us again. We were interrogated once more before I could inform the students’ families, who eventually secured our release,” he added.

Today, Paritosh Pal filed a formal complaint with the Teliamura railway police regarding the incident. News of the complaint quickly spread throughout the school, prompting the students to boycott classes and protest from the early morning, demanding justice for Pal and the two students.

One of the protesting students said, “We want a fair trial and strict action against those responsible for harassing our project in-charge and our fellow students. We will continue our protest until justice is served.”

Meanwhile, the police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
