KGMU Institutes Gold Medal in Honour of Tripura CM

Agartala, 29th January 2025:    In a significant recognition of his achievements, King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Uttar Pradesh, has announced the establishment of a Gold Medal in the name of Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha. 

Dr. Saha, an esteemed alumnus of KGMU, expressed his gratitude on X, stating, “A nostalgic moment for me! My alma mater, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, has instituted a Gold Medal in my name for meritorious students excelling in Dental Sciences. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the KGMU fraternity for this great honour.” 

The university, in an official communication to the Chief Minister, acknowledged his inspiring journey and notable contributions to the institution. The letter stated that during Dr. Saha’s visit to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dental Sciences, on November 26, 2024, the Vice Chancellor of KGMU announced the institution of the ‘Chief Minister Tripura (Manik Saha) Gold Medal’. This prestigious award will be presented to the postgraduate student securing the highest marks in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the university’s convocation. 

The university has formally requested Dr. Saha’s office to initiate the necessary procedures for the establishment of the award.
