Agartala, 7th February 2025: A severe water crisis has hit the Kanchanmala area under the Golaghati assembly constituency, due to the alleged carelessness of a contractor from Agartala.
The contractor, who was hired to build a concrete culvert near ward number one, reportedly broke a water pipeline during construction. Although the pipeline was re-installed, it broke again within a few days, leaving local residents and Kanchanmala SB School without water.
Residents, including school staff, now have to fetch water from distant locations. The community is outraged at the contractor’s actions, as no alternative drinking water pipeline was arranged.
Locals and students demand immediate provision of alternative water sources and hold the contractor responsible for the crisis.
