Agartala, 22nd February 2025 :   In a joint initiative by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and the Tripti Project, livestock distribution has begun among women of self-help groups to promote self-reliance and financial prosperity. The Sarbjaya Mahila Cluster Multipurpose Cooperative Society has launched this initiative to empower women in economically disadvantaged areas.

The manager of Sarbjaya Mahila Cluster Multipurpose Cooperative Society announced that 101 women from various self-help groups under the society would receive goats and pigs. In the first phase, 18 women were each provided with four goats.

“The main objective of this livestock distribution is to make these families financially prosperous and self-reliant,” said the manager. He noted that through the cooperative society, women have access to government loans to aid in their journey toward self-sufficiency. Currently, the cooperative society comprises 293 self-help groups, involving over three thousand women.

To improve their economic conditions, the society has been consistently providing various resources to its members. At the event held in the Kachim Chha area, four goats were handed over to the women of the self-help groups. The remaining beneficiaries will receive four goats and two pigs later this month.

The event was graced by the presence of the acting president and treasurer of Sarbjaya Mahila Cluster Cooperative Society, who handed over the goats to the women one by one. The initiative has generated significant enthusiasm among the beneficiaries, who are hopeful for a brighter and more prosperous future.
