21.75 kg of cannabis seized in Agartala, one arrested

Agartala, 22nd February 2025 :   Acting on a tip-off, Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) jointly have seized 21.75 kg of dried cannabis and arrested an individual in Agartala. The estimated market value of the seized cannabis is over Rs 2 lakh. The arrested person is to be presented in court with a request for police remand.

Sources informed, the authorities received information last night about a plan to smuggle cannabis out of the state via the Agartala railway station.

Based on this intelligence, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted a joint operation. During the operation, they detained a resident of Amatali Vaishnab Tilla area identified as Raj Kumar Sarkar and recovered 21.75 kg of cannabis from his possession. The market value of the recovered cannabis is estimated to be over Rs 2 lakh.
