Agartala, 24th February 2025: For the past few days, Liton Deb, a youth from different state had been working on constructing a concrete building at the residence of Liton Mia in the Motinagar area of Fultali Panchayat under Amtali Police Station. Struggling to find a place to stay, Liton Deb earnestly pleaded with Liton Mia for accommodation. Moved by the worker’s simplicity and plight, Liton Mia allowed him to stay in his home.
Construction work was underway in a room adjacent to Liton Mia’s house. Yesterday, while Liton Mia and his family were visiting his in-laws’ house, they returned to a shocking scene—broken cupboards and missing valuables. The family was devastated to find that Liton Deb had absconded with over five gold ornaments, Rs. 1.7 lakh in cash, intended for housework and an expensive mobile phone.
The heartbroken Liton Mia and his wife reported the incident to Amtali Police Station. Liton Mia’s wife recounted that while they were away, Liton Deb climbed a tree, entered their two-storey brick house through a window, broke the cupboards and stole their possessions. She demanded the immediate arrest of Liton Deb and called for strict punishment to prevent such betrayals in the future.
The Amtali Police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for Liton Deb.
