Kisan Samman ceremony and vegetable exhibition held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khowai

Agartala, 24th February 2025:    The Kisan Samman ceremony and a vibrant vegetable exhibition were held on Monday at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khowai emphasizing the government’s commitment to doubling farmers’ incomes and fostering agricultural development.

Inaugurating the event at the training center of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury highlighted the government’s extensive efforts for the holistic development of the state and the agricultural sector. “If the income of farmers doubles, the economy of the country and the state will be strong, and the country will move forward,” said Chowdhury. He urged farmers to adopt integrated farming practices to boost their family incomes.

In the program, Uttar Chebri Panchayat Pradhan Sharmila Sarkar, social worker Chayan Roy, District Agriculture Officer Samiran Chakma, District Horticulture Officer Sabendra Debbarma, and agricultural scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, such as Ardhendu Chakraborty, Dr. Suresh Chandra Biswas and Dr. Shubra Shil. Dr. Manoj Singh Sanchan, a senior scientist at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, delivered the welcome speech.

The event showcased a vegetable exhibition at the Agricultural Science Center, with participation from 73 farmers displaying various types of vegetables. MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury presented awards to the winners in the first, second, and third categories of the exhibition. Additionally, improved rice seed packets were distributed to five farmers on behalf of the Science Center, and two soil health cards were presented to local farmers.

MLA Chowdhury also unveiled the newsletter of the Agricultural Science Center during the event. The exhibition included a display of agricultural machinery, further promoting advanced farming techniques and tools.
