13 Bangladeshi nationals, 3 Indian touts held

Agartala, 28th February 2025:   Tripura Police and Border Security Forces apprehended 13 Bangladeshi nationals along with three Indian touts in Chandipur under the Kailashahar Sub-division of Unakoti District. 

According to Tripura Police sources, the Bangladeshi nationals had illegally crossed the international border into Tripura late Thursday night. 

 “There were three females, three males, and seven children, along with three Indian touts. They were detained while traveling to different destinations,” said a police official. 

Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) stated that an intelligence-driven operation in Kailashahar led to the arrest of 13 Bangladeshi nationals, including three females, three males, and seven children, along with three Indian touts. 

 “All the Bangladeshi nationals hail from the districts of Moulvibazar, Sunamganj, Netrakona, and Barisal in Bangladesh. The Indian touts have been identified as Kajal Das from Silchar in Assam, Ajit Das from Unakoti, and Prasanjit Debnath from Dhalai in Tripura,” the BSF stated. 

The detained Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Ratilal Das (62), Bina Rani Das (60), Hawal Das (60), Sumitra Das (45), Anamika Das (17), Hemanta Das (15), Bhumi Das (6), Rupali Rani Das (32), Ankita Das (15), Sushmita Das (10), Prantik Das (4), Arup Das (1), and Hridoy Das (21). 

According to BSF sources, at around 12:30 pm on Thursday, the group was traveling towards the Indian border in two auto-rickshaws. Upon reaching the area near Serampore Bridge, they were intercepted by border guards on suspicion. They were subsequently taken to the Samarupara Border Outpost (BOP) for legal proceedings.
