Left labor leader Chanchal Majumdar passes away; Manik Sarkar & others pay tributes

Agartala, 15th March 2025:   Chanchal Majumdar, a prominent Left labor leader, passed away, leaving a significant void in Tripura’s labor movement. Today, his last respects were paid at the CPIM and CITU state offices.

Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar expressed deep sorrow, paying tribute to Majumdar’s memory and extending condolences to his family. Sarkar highlighted Majumdar’s pivotal role in Tripura’s motor vehicle system and his leadership in the Tripura Motor Workers Union, where he emerged as a key figure in the state’s labor movement.

Narayan Kar, another leader, described Majumdar as a dedicated CITU worker who tirelessly strengthened the labor movement. Despite battling illness in recent years, Majumdar remained active, setting an example of resilience and commitment. His absence is deeply felt, but leaders believe his legacy will inspire the current generation to continue his work.
