Agartala, 23rd March 2025:   The socio-economic disparity faced by the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community in Tripura remains a pressing issue, despite comprising nearly 40 percent of the state’s population. Raising concerns over the continued deprivation of rights and facilities, All India Krishak Sabha state secretary Pabitra Kar asserted that the struggle for justice is far from over.

“The OBC population has been fighting for their rightful place in society for years, yet their socio-economic status remains unequal. Most OBC people are still deprived of various facilities, and this struggle to achieve their rights continues,” Kar stated while speaking to media personnel during a convention here today.

As part of this movement, a grand OBC convention and felicitation ceremony for OBC individuals and students was organized by the OBC, SC and Minorities Mancha. The event saw the participation of various community leaders, activists, and concerned citizens.

Highlighting the political dynamics surrounding OBC reservation, Kar criticized past and present governments for failing to implement necessary reforms. “OBC reservation was not implemented during the Left government. Now, we strongly demand the BJP government to take immediate steps and enforce the OBC reservation law in the state,” he added.

The event highlighted the growing demand for affirmative action and justice for the OBC community in Tripura. Leaders vowed to continue their movement until their demands were met, emphasizing that equal socio-economic opportunities were crucial for the state’s overall development.
