BJP govts’ tendency to change names, sign of narrow politics: Mayawati

Date:

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Tuesday said that the trend of changing names of districts, cities, and institutions by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments in Uttar Pradesh and other states is a symbol of narrow politics.

Taking to ‘X’, Mayawati posted, “Like the Samajwadi Party (SP) government in UP, the trend of changing names of districts, cities and institutions by BJP governments in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and UP is not governance of the rule of law but a very worrying narrow politics to cover up their failures on the basis of hatred and discrimination.”

She said that the government should learn from BSP, which has formed the government in UP four times, and created districts, tehsils, and universities with new names, keeping good governance in mind.

BSP supremo said, “In the four times BSP government from 1995 in undivided UP to 2012, keeping good governance in mind, many new welfare schemes and districts, tehsils, hospitals, universities were created with new names, no name was changed. Governments should definitely learn from this.”
