Agartala, 8th April 2025: The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Tuesday strongly countered the CPI(M)’s youth wing over its recent criticism regarding rising unemployment in the state, dismissing the charges as “baseless and politically motivated.”
Speaking at a press conference held at the BJP state headquarters in Agartala, BJYM state president and ruling party MLA Sushanta Deb accused the Left of spreading misinformation out of frustration with the government’s developmental agenda.
The reaction came a day after the Left’s youth front lashed out at the BJP-led state government, alleging an alarming rise in joblessness, lack of regularization in state departments, and a growing drug abuse problem among the youth.
In a scathing rebuttal, Deb stated, “This is a deliberate attempt to mislead the youth and malign the state government. The CPI(M) has always thrived on empty promises. Back when they were in power, they made young people march in rallies under the guise of employment but never actually created jobs.”
He went on to claim that between 2002 and 2010, during the Left Front’s rule, no substantial recruitment took place in government departments. “The Left never had any intention of empowering the youth with jobs. Their frustration is now driving them to spread lies,” Deb said.Emphasizing the BJP government’s commitment to transparent recruitment, Deb highlighted a number of employment and skill development schemes aimed at addressing joblessness. He added that real infrastructure and opportunities are being created for young people in Tripura.
“The progress we’ve achieved is evident, and that’s what the CPI(M) cannot come to terms with,” Deb remarked, adding that the government remains focused on delivering long-term solutions to unemployment and youth issues in the state.
